- Priest in charge report.
2024 seems a long time ago now and we are already into the second month of the new Year. It’s just as well that I keep a diary/record of activities ; especially so because the memory grows dim with age!!
- Chaired the AGM on 10th November. A good attendance by parishioners – encouraging.
- Two funerals Attended the were held in St George’s on 11// and 15/11 (Stella Johnson, Beverley Braybon)
- Attended the “Creation Service” in Bishop’s Court with Olga and Kieth, and John Stammers (My Chauffeur for the day.) Most interesting liturgical event and well attended by members of the Diocesan family
- PC Dinner in Rectory – 3rd December. Most enjoyable.
- Croquet Christmas Lunch – 10/12
- Memorial service conducted for Pamela Lee on 11th Dec.
- Fellowship dinner with Church ladies (& spouses) 12/12
- Carol Service in Church of Christ. I gave the Blessing.
- Communion at Pioneer Lodge and then led Blue Christmas Service on 19/12
- Helped Margaret decorate the church etc.. for Christmas.
- Two Christmas services celebrated – Midnight Mass in Numurkah on 24th and then Nathalia and Numurkah on 25th. Very low attendance at both Christmas Day services plus no musician at 9.30am service at St George’s!! plus No assistants. I asked the two eldest Philipino children to robe and assist at the altar. They “performed” brilliantly.
- The painting and restoration of the church began and for the next 3 weeks I provided access to the building and secured it at close. I observed a very thorough and professional work ethic from Brad and the team. The result is worth every penny.
- On 7th January I conducted the Christmas Day service for the Macedonian Orthodox Christians in St Augustine’s in Shepparton.
- Again on 19th Jan I celebrated the Baptism of Christ for the Macedonians in St Augustine’s
- Margaret and I welcomed family and friends to Numurkah for birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations – from 18th Jan to 27th when we finally got our home back! .
- Baptism of Ada Pendlebury took place on 26th Jan. – Australia Day
- Study entitled “The Eucharist” began on 2nd Feb. with a pleasing 12 participants.
My next, and hopefully last, telehealth appt. with the neurologist takes place on 25th February. I await the outcome with baited breath!!!!
Many thanks to members of PC and others who ferried me to Nathalia each Sunday since my medical event. I currently have a chauffeur in the person of Tony Cleave from Shepparton who is willingly picking me up each Sunday.
Blessings
Fr. Gunnar

Once the Archdeacon is back on track (sometime this week) we will arrange for a special meeting that we hope will take place at Nathalia so that we can deal with all matters and procedures about the future ministry and activities at Nathalia.
We also need to look at the subdivision of the Rectory ground, and we have information pertaining that which we would like to share.
Furthermore, we need to look at the shape of Ministry with effect 1 December as we have only planned with Dr Helen Malcolm until 30 November. I have so much on my plate, but I think we might be able to look at 2 or 3 scenarios’ when we meet.
In the meantime, I am humbly requesting that services at Nathalia continues only on the first Sunday of the month up until 1 December but hopefully we can decide way before then. All that I want to do is to follow all the procedures and protocols and together with the Archdeacon, we will get this sorted with you very soon.
